Alba Music Festival
The City of Alba , located in the northern Piemonte region of Italy, is the stage for the dynamic and internationally influenced Alba Music Festival, which attracts more than 10,000 people each year and has been called “the little Spoleto of Piemonte” (la Repubblica)
The Festival stages concerts in the most prestigious places in Alba, including dozens of majestic castles and intimate churches that are the heart of the region’s uniqueness. A spectacular journey in a thousand-year-old framework, the Festival is host to a magical meeting between rich history, stirring scenery, and music, “Making Musica Bella” (Maryland Week-end).
Festival concerts are free and open to the public and feature renowned soloists, orchestras, and musicians from all corners of the world. Over 100 students participate each year in the rich cultural exchange that results from the meeting of European and American cultures. Public dialogue does not end after each concert but continues with a full calendar of interactive classes, seminars, and workshops. The public shows their enthusiasm by filling every seat each night… “Alba, è qui la festa!” (Specchio).
The Alba Music Festival was built out of the close relationship between the City of Alba and St. Mary’s College of Maryland, USA. The Festival was created and is directed by Giuseppe Nova, Jeff Silberschlag, and Larry Vote, renowned artists whose distinguished backgrounds on the international stage contribute greatly to this extraordinary celebration of music.
